Artists Unable to Perform on Mainstage

Poor Weather Blights Last Day of Festival

The two-day weekend event at Turweston Aerodrome was hit by extreme weather yesterday meaning some acts on the main stage were unfortunately unable to perform. Due to adverse weather conditions over the course of the day and subsequent water build up on the main stage Crystal Castles, Hot Chip, Pendulum and the Chemical Brothers all agreed that it would be unsafe to perform on the main stage.

Main stage artists Dan Le Sac and Scroobious Pip and Crystal Castles were relocated to the MySpace bus and performed dj sets, whilst Pendulum worked hard with festival organisers to ensure that could play and moved to the Metropolis arena so their scheduled sets could go ahead. Every effort was made to enable The Chemical Brothers and Hotchip sets to go ahead but it was with great disappointment that they could not proceed with their performances.

Gatecrasher and the artists would like to apologise for the disappointment caused to festival-goers. All other stages remained unaffected. Gatecrasher are currently awaiting comments from The Chemical Brothers and Hotchip.

This was a such an unfortunate incident as the festival had some real highlights including an explosive performance on Saturday night from The Prodigy with their first festival appearance of the year, blistering performances from the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Justice, CSS and newcomers The Whip. The Sunday night even saw a surprise guest appearance from Lily Allen who joined Mark Ronson on stage for an impromptu rendition of her hit with the producer ‘Oh My God’.

"Extreme weather"? It was a light drizzle FFS!

Other inaccuracies: Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip played a proper set on the bus, not just a DJ set. And Lily Allen did briefly appear on stage when Mark Ronson was about to play "Oh My God", but she didn't sing a note... I couldn't decide whether that was a good or bad thing.

I cant believe that they got so many people into one tent to see pendulum, was proper hectic.....a slight health and safety issue lol but they were so worth it just really happy i found out when they were rescheduled for!!!

Heyy everybody!

Right this is the thing... During my time at gatecrasher SSS, some absolute loser robbed some stuff out of my tent by cutting the tent with something sharp and took mine and my boyfriends phones, cameras, money etcc because they were all in the same bag (we were asleep by the way we didnt just leave them in there)... sooo... seeing as i took some really amazing pictures and videos of the whole experience, i now have nothing to show for it but memory.

There was a professional camera man filming the crowd going wild at the front whilst sinden was doing his set and it seems if i get hold of this video i'll have something to remember it by.

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHO WAS FILMING THIS AND WHERE CAN I FIND IT ON THE NET? ME, MY BOYFRIEND AND HIS MATE WERE AT THE FRONT AND I REALLY WANNA SEE IT! THANKSS X X XX

OMG.. i loved the acid house tent... fantastic all night... UNTIL i think it was alfredo came on...every single mix was badly out.. now im not sayin slighty off.. i mean like they guy had never mixed before... it was painful to listen to...he did appear on stage with a bottle of vodka, so maybe that explains it..

GC - if you seriously think that was an acceptable standard, then u should book me for next year, id do it for free, just a few beers and a small guestlist... and i would fookin rock.. unlike alfredo...;-)

Anyone manage to catch these guys on the Sunday night? If so, how was it?! :) We were waiting eagerly for them to come on in the Metropolis tent as they were supposed to be on after Pendulum's re-arranged set. But no? Another act (no disrespect to them, but can't remember their name) turned up. A bit gutted, but fortunately they're on the line up at creamfields...

Hi,

Does anyone know the tune Freeland was playing when he dropped a sample of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' over the top?

I thought it was kavinsky - testarossa autodrive (sebastian remix) but not too sure now.

I think the thriller sample is from Herve - Cheap thrills, but could be from the original too.

Any ideas would help me scratch this annoying itch.

I was planning to go and see Top Buzz and that was it. But I ended up staying from 11.30-6.00! I must say Angie Brown, N-Joi, Top Buzz and Ratpack were awesome! I'm 18 and was obviously unable to go to any of the original old skool raves, but have loved the music since I heard my brother listening to Stu Allen when I was 14. Was just pleased to see so many young people there, was great!!

Also, did anyone see how crap that dance the bald man on stage was doing? BALLLLLS

They were Class, never seen them live before and IMO it was the best set of the weekend!! Absolutely loved it!!

JUST to see Pendulum as we heard that people were only being let in one by one!

Anywhooo, after Pendulum, it should have been High Contrast then Shy FX.

When did those 2 acts come on exactly?

Cos, after Pendulum, some random DJ came and killed my buzz.

Don't care if any of you liked him but it's my own opinion.

What a weekend cost me a fortune but who cares. The Hardcore Heaven tent was amazing and I asbolutely loved the Fantazia tent. My ex, sister and myself love Gatecrasher that much we all have the Gatecrasher symbol as a tattoo!!!!!

Some news from people working on the air field

As if the site had enough problems my lovely fried who was working all weekend while I was having a wet but wicked time, told me that health & safety came in on Monday and shut the site down for being un safe.

Also the big white tent that was turbo the night before collapsed when they were taking down the truss (big metal things they hang the lights and the spiky things on) .

Nobody got harmed but it was a total shut down.

Also he said that the chemical brothers did all they could to try and play but as anybody who was there will know the weather was just too much, and they made the final decision not to play at 8:20pm so they did try and go to the wire.

CSS played a RATM song....

CSS (before prodigy) played Killing in the name of by Rage against the machine, it was an awesome mix which I am trying to find! I can only find a mix by sebastian which has some stupid robot voice on it. As far as I remember, the version they played didnt have a robot! Can anyone identify it?

that is possibly the most disappointing weekend of my life! After Global last year, me and my girlfriend were ready to do something new and exciting and GCSSS promised to be it!

But they promised too much and couldn't deliver. I've never been to such a badly organised event in all my life. None of the staff knew what was going on, the inflated bar prices were a joke, and GC promised to publish the bar list before the event, where was that? The park car was advertised as £5 not £10 and £10 for a landyard is a joke - so all that alone was much much worse than global!

To cancel the main stage "because of the weather conditions" is a lie! The country was flooded last year and all the festivals I went to didn't cancel stages, especially the main one! It rained for one night! it was good weather the day before, my face was burnt in the sun to prove it!

Gatecrasher cancelled the main stage to do an insurance job and save money - it was pretty obvious to me that there was not enough people at the event to cover the huge costs it must have taken to put it on and they couldn't pay all the artists!

and i'm not buying "it was cos of the weather.." crap! GC is pretty good at doing insurance jobs, just have to look at Gatecrasher1 of that!

Well done guys, you tried and failed miserably and the way in which you've gone about things is an absolute disgrace! You might be able to fool some of the loyal clubbers who've saved their hard earned cash to attend your event but you cant to others, the worst thing is some people won't be able to afford to attend another festival this year so wont really know what it should be like..... makes me feel bad I bad mouthed Global - at least their excuse of the weather was more plausible!

I got pissed wet trying to sleep on Sunday morning. I mean fucking drenched. I had no clean clothes on me and I didnt get a wink sleep. I was tired, dirty, smelly, had no where to sit and wanted to go home.

Instead of being miserable about it, I went to watch kick ass music and danced my tits off. Obviously gutted to miss Chems but instead I discovered some new acts who I hadn't seen before. Me and my mates had a fucking blast.

On sunday night/monday morning I had nowhere to sleep cause my tent had blown away.

Oh well! So goes life.

some people just aren't meant to go to festivals. Go to your local discoteque and dance with the orange bitches you soft bastards.
